Haiku, Poetry, Ronovan writes weekly haiku prompt

This week Ronovan gives participants an easier challenge that last week I think!  My contribution springs from personal experience – fortunately or unfortunately I am not sure, despite the popular belief …

Hope remains unquenchable

In the human heart

The sentences read:

When bird soil means luck hope remains unquenchable.

Hope remains unquenchable in the human heart.

TJ features the most gorgeous umbrella I have ever seen this week, and I have to use the picture.   The Haiku he has paired with it  is very moving and encapsulates the tragedy of poor Marie Antoinette and her family.

But on a happier note, what a delightful thing to do, taking so much trouble to bring a pretty, frivolous (and awkwardly shaped!) thing home, simply because it was the perfect gift …

Haiku, Poetry, Ronovan Writes Positively Haiku Challenge

I was browsing round looking for more haiku challenges, and came across this rather cool site.  Ronovan’s reflections roam far and wide, and cover a vast gamut of topics, styles and genres.  I picked up the haiku challenge, because I enjoy TJ’s weekly challenge.  Ronovan’s was a real brain teaser, and I’m not sure if I have quite pulled it off.  But anyway, here it is.

I love trying my hand at these challenges.  TJ’s photos are always interesting and evocative.  This figurine has an alive and suffering look that is most arresting.  The figurine’s age and the fact that Galle’s glass is far more famous and desired by collectors than his majolica lends the image a certain sadness.  Thank goodness TJ rescued it and I am sure it now has pride of place in his collection.

Another great prompt from TJ’s Haiku Challenge this week.  Keys … the possibilities are many.  I love TJ’s haiku, and here is mine – once again using TJ’s lovely photograph to illustrate.

The frustration of being unable to make something work.

Every one a fail.

Haiku, loneliness, missing my significant other, Poetry

It’s Haiku time, that time of the week that I have discovered I love!   TJ has posted a lovely image of an exquisite clock face that speaks to my heart.  I hope he will forgive the liberty of my using it as my inspiration.

The clock has two faces that can measure the same amount of time in a day as twenty-four hours or as 86,400 seconds.  Being away from those we love can make a short time feel like million moments of waiting.

The clock spoke to me, for it measures time in long portions and little ones, and it looks like a travellers clock that may have accompanied someone on many journeys. Its large, finely enamelled hour face is the one I keep turned to the world, keeping life on track for those at home.  The little, plain, second face is my secret heart that counts every second until my beloved is home.
